Black & Decker 18” Mulching Mover MM275

If you have a relatively small yard and dislike working with potentially dangerous gas-powered machinery as much as I do then the Black & Decker 18” Mulching Mover MMW275 is a very good choice.

I have had this mover for well over five years now and it has served me well. Aside from the plus of being electrically operated, the features that attracted me to this mower is that it will either discharge the mulch from the side for pickup later on or you can purchase an optional grass bag which unzips for easy disposal. It was a minor additional investment. The only down side is it’s a little heavier to push with a full bag of mulch so I often opt to just go with the side mulching feature.

My yard is fairly small but has a slope to it. Yet even a relatively petite woman like myself can operate this mover with ease provided you have an outdoor outlet and an extension cord of the proper length for your requirements. The handle has a place for the cord so as not to let is get tangled up or run over. That’s the one down side of an electric mower as far as I am concerned.

The maintenance for this mower is fairly simple. Obviously you need to unplug it prior to storage. As with any other mower, it’s important to keep the blade sharpened and balanced for optimum performance. In addition, always check out and clean caked grass which may have accumulated inside after each usage.

This model comes with a full two-year home use warranty and is backed by the good name of Black and Decker.

Light and easy to pick up
by: Melissa

We purchased this lawn mower at Wal-Mart. We were looking for a small, easy to use mower that we could use to cut around areas that the riding lawn mower could not reach. We found this really neat electric mower. It is made by Black & Decker. It is an 18-inch electric mulching mower. The model number is MM275 for anyone who wishes to check it out. It was very easy to put together. All we had to do was assemble the handle and we didn't even need tools to do it. It has a 9 amp motor on it.

It has a handle that you hold down to keep the mower running while you are using it. Then if you need to turn it off fast, all you have to do is release the handle and it will turn off. It is powered by an extension cord, so it doesn't use gas or oil. Another really nice thing about this mower is that it doesn't seem to be as loud as a regular gas powered mower.

It has two options to either mulch or just blow the chopped up grass out onto the lawn. It is really easy to adjust the wheels, it has what is called a single lever adjuster which will raise or lower all the wheels at the same time. It can cut as low as 1 inch from the ground and up to 3 ½ inches from the ground, depending on how low or high you cut your grass. The blade is 18 inches, so it is perfect for cutting in those hard to get places. The mower is very light also and is easy to pick up and put away if you have to lift it into a storage shed.

You can also purchase a little bag to go on it which will catch the grass, but we did not get that just because we don't use it to cut the whole yard. I would recommend this mower to anyone. It is really easy to use and lightweight and would be perfect for just about anyone.

Awesome
by: Matthew

I bought this lawn mower because I live pretty far away from a gas station and I figured electric was the way to go. I can honestly say this is the best lawn mower I have ever owned. Let's start with the basics.

Cutting Power (5 of 5).
For something that runs on electricity this thing can cut. I have seen it go through 4-5 inch branches without a hitch.

Portability (4 of 5).
This thing is pretty light condsidering most lawn mowers. It is maybe 30-40 lbs. The reason it doesn't get a 5 is because you are limited by your power cord and power outlet. If you run out of extension cord, then you run out of room. If you don't have a power outlet, you can't plug it in. [However, you can always buy more power cords and use the plug inside of your home).

User Friendly (5 of 5).
No cranking, no oil check, no gas fill up. Just plug it in and pull the lever. Need I say more.

Safety (4 of 5).
The only real drawback to the lawn mower is you have to be careful not to run over the extension cord, because you don't want a live wire around you at all. Since you don't have to worry about having to recrank the mower, you can just turn it off and move the cord if it gets in your way.

Durability (4.5 of 5).
It's mainly hard plastic with a bit of metal here and there. I haven't had any problems with it yet. I use it at least once every two weeks.

Clean-up (5 of 5).
It mulches for you. No bags, no raking. All you have to do it mow and your done. It mulches extremely well. I usually don't see any pieces of grass or leaves.

Overall (4.5 of 5)
This thing is awesome. I would recommend it to everyone.

Easy to maintain
by: Liz

If you don’t have a whole lot of grass on your property to maintain and are reluctant to mess around with the hazards of gas-powered lawn mowers like me then the Black & Decker 18” Mulching Mover MMW275 I have is what I would recommend that you buy as well.

I have owned this reliable mover for at least six years now and it couldn’t be easier to use. I was drawn to this model simply because it’s electric but there are other features that contributed to my decision to purchase it. For instance, you can have it will shoot mulch out from its side for pickup later on or you have the option to buy a grass bag to easily attach which collects the grass.

You can then just unzip it and quickly dispose of the cuttings without going to the trouble of bagging it. It was a relatively minor inexpensive extra cost to buy the bag which has saved me time and effort. The only pitfall I see with this mower is it’s a slightly heavier to push with the full bag of grass so sometimes I just go with the side mulching feature and let nature take its course with the cuttings.

My yard is not that all that large but is two-tiered. However, I can operate this mover easily. There’s a need for a conveniently located outdoor outlet and an extension cord long enough to cover the expanse of your yard. The handle on the mower has a slot in which to loop the cord so you don’t have to worry about it getting tangled or underfoot while you are using it. Other than that there is nothing negative I can say about this product.

There in not much to the maintenance of this mower. Naturally you will want to unplug it when you’re finished using it. And just as you would expect with any other kind of lawn mower, it’s necessary to keep the blades sharp and balanced in order for it to continue to do a good job. You also need to check for dried grass which may cake around the bottom and need to be scraped out from time to time.

This Black & Decker 18” Mulching Mover is guaranteed for two years with home use and is covered by the respected reputation of Black and Decker.
