Craftsman 625 - self propelled ( Briggs /Stratton engine)

Bought the above noted mower about three years ago and always had trouble starting it, was even going to throw it in the garbage and decided to take it to my friend who is a Sears technician. He asked me if it had a metal spark plug boot and yes, it did. He replaced it with a plastic one and the mower now works fine. The problem was only corrected in mapril, 2011 after three years of frustration . The mower was about $450.00 with tax.

I would think there should have been a recall but not sure if anyone else ever figured out the problem until now.

The metal spark plug boot shorts out the electrical to the point where it is most difficult ( very very hard to start).
