Easy garden compost

Keep a compost pile right in your garden to have it readily available. Put a wooden box about 3'x3'x 18"high in the middle of your garden. Put stakes on the inside corners and drive them into the ground so the box sits about 3" above the ground. Throw in lawn clippings, leftover food, etc. and rotate it. The compost will leak out the sides or just spread it on the garden when its ready.

Duplicates

Your comments are NOT from the public... you are writing them yourself you idiot. At least try to change them a bit more than the name of the writer. You have too many duplicates.

However your articles are well written, so I'll use them as a basis for my own mower site.

Good Compost Pile
by: Joanie

I agree. Having a compost pile right near the garden is so convenient. We have a small, metal compost container in the kitchen with a tight-fitting lid. I'm always filling it up with food scraps. We don't have a garbage disposal, so it works well. Daily, or every other day, we empty it on our compost pile outside next to the garden. Then we clean the container with soap and water to keep it from smelling. As soon as the compost is ready outside, I can simply shovel it right onto the garden by just turning around! It's also convenient because as I harvest the garden, I throw all the excess materials like carrot tops, etc. right onto the compost pile instead of bringing it all into the house. Further, when I water the garden I also water the compost pile which keeps it damp and more active. I set up the sprinkler between the two and let it go.

COMPOST GARDEN
by: asif

I think this is a great idea, I wiil try it since we have a big garden in our house. You can try and cover it with soil or grounded lime stone for pests purposes, and then turn it every week or so.

I've done just this and it works great!

Before we moved into an apartment, we had our own organic garden. We had a compost pile right next to the garden and would put all the clippings from the garden into the compost pile. We were careful to not put weeds and that can spread the weed seeds all through the garden.

Natural compost is one of the best investments of time that we made on our vegetable garden. The vegetables loved us for it!

good info!

A compost pile can be as simple or complicated as you want it to be. Some hard-core gardeners pay very close attention to levels and green vs. brown in their compost pile, but you really can make compost out of anything. I like to put shredded newspapers and used paper towels in as well. Coffee grounds make excellent garden soil as well. Happy composting!

Great idea, easy too.

Good advice. That's what I do too. We throw leftover apple cores, banana peels, and grab shells into it.
