Honda HRX 426 QX
by Val Barton
I adore my new mower!
In the past I have had the usual hassles with starting, manoeuvring, emptying the grass box and of course adjusting the cutting height.
My new Honda has resolved the majority of these issues for me.
Petrol, 5.5hp 4-stroke engine, self propelling, the ease with which it starts is brilliant. My old mower used to cut out when presented with longer grass, now, on those occasions when I've left the lawn longer than I should have and it's a little high, this excellent new mower powers through the taller grass with ease. This is assisted by the adjustable height of the blades. Once again easy to accomplish, you don't require a degree in civil engineering, as can sometimes be the case.
The mower has made the cutting of my not inconsiderable back lawn a joy, instead of a chore.
Getting that perfect 'cricket pitch' look is easy, you can easily see where the next stripe should be. The 60 litre capacity of the grass bag means less stops and starts. There was an optional mulching system which I
purchased, easy to use and great for the compost heap.
This mower is not a cheap option, I paid £610.00 for this model. However, when compared to the amount I have wasted on various 'wonder models', hovers etc I consider it money well invested.
The HRX is easy to clean, when put away in the shed you simply fold down the handle so no awkward bits to accommodate when not in use and of course no handle to bump into when accessing other items in shed.
I have waxed lyrical about my new acquisition and would recommend this model to all gardeners enthusiastic or not, hopefully this model is available in the States as well. I would imagine, being a Honda, it will be available worldwide. I also feel happy and safe knowing that their reputation of build quality and reliability will mean many years of trouble free mowing.
