remove all sod put down plastic plant plants by cutting holesin plastic. Cover plastic with mulch or rock. You should get a few years weed free. After a few years you may see a few weeds spray with weed killer. Never weed again.
I've done this in my garden for the past few years and it works great. The cheapest thing is to just cut open large trash bags (the kind for lawn and garden) instead of buying rolls of plastic designed for that purpose.
