Working around Rose Bushes-safely!

Getting ready to mulch around roses, or maybe trimming them or weeding? Tired of getting poked, scratched and your clothes hung up on them? I have a simple, and inexpensive solution, get a cardboard posterboard from the dollar store, the 24x36 size is best.

Wrap it around the pricklies annd tape at top, staple, then turn the card board wrap around as you mosve! The ouches stay inside the cardboard wrap and you remain snag free! Works well with other prickly plants as well, like cactus.

Roses
by: Anonymous

Roses seem to be the only plant I haven't managed to kill. I have two survivors of neglect in my front yard and two in the back. I'll keep this in mind.

100 rose bushes!
by: Wesley

This is a great tip I never thought of. I have 100 rose bushes in my front yard. Another thing I thought of that might save time is to use large carboard boxes. That way you don't use up all your tape. I still have many large boxes left over from when I moved that are just the right size.

Great idea!
by: Benjamin Dougan

What a great idea. I have some rose bushes in my backyard with other plants in that area. When I am cleaning out the dead leaves or planting new plants, I always get the prick. I will definetely be doing this next time!
