Weedeater

by Lindsey
(Clare, Michigan, USA)

When we were looking at lawnmowers this summer, we wanted one that was of good quality and a low price. This is when we found the weedeater. It was only $119, which was amazing for a brand new lawnmower.

It was very easy to assemble and you can basically start using right out of the box. It has an eighteen-inch span and the height can be adjusted depending on how short you want your grass. It does not have a bag. The mower is very easy to start, with the prime button clearly labeled. It is very easy to maneuver around trees and shrubs.

It is not hard to push. We moved to a new house in September and the grass was really high, it hadn’t been cut in quite some time. We were wondering if the lawn mower was going to be able to handle it and were even considering renting a riding lawn mower to get the job done. We figured we’d give our little walk behind mower a try.

It worked! The mower did not bog down and it cut through the thick grass like a champ! I was impressed more than ever now with our investment. It is an economical model that gets the job done very well.

500 series, 140cc Chinese OHV engine

Bought this thing last year, used it for half the season. It would start then quit running. This spring same thing. I took the carb off , the float bowl had a lot of sediment in it and the main jet appeared plugged. Cleaned both and put it back together. Checked the plug, it was a Torch?, crossed reffed it to NGK, gapped it at .025 and installed.
If you're going to do it, watch how the gaskets come off. And be carefull with the float bowl o-ring, took me two tries to get it on so it wouldn't leak.

junk
by: Anonymous

I bought my weed-eater one riding mower two years ago, boy was that a mistake. I'm having the seconded transmission put in. Had trouble with the steering ,has a plastic part that striped out. Now they replaced it with metal. This mower is junk, cant believe they haven't done a recall on this crap ! Cant hardly find anyone that wants to work on them. It's still in the shop almost three months. Summer will be over by the time it's fixed. Please do a recall.

Weedeater not a good mower
by: Anonymous

I bought a Weedeater lawnmower from Kmart last year. It was absolutely the worst lawnmower I have ever had! I had to take them back 3 times as each time it stopped working after one cut! I would not recommend this brand to anyone. It would not cut after one use and I kept exchanging one thinking maybe I got a bad one or a lemon. I came to the conclusion that it was just not a good mower despite the economical price tag.

JUNK!
by: Anonymous

I bought this mower last summer and we had trouble with it from the beginning. We had a horrible drought last year so we didn't need it much. Our son is a pretty good mechanic and he worked on it a while this summer and got it going. Now it is not working again. It will not start... So I went and bought a Huskie at Tractor Supply. Guaranteed to start with 2 pulls. I have started it at least 10 times so far and I only pulled it 2 times once. The rest of the time I pulled it once. I am an out of shape and over 50. I love my husky...

Horrible
by: Anonymous

This lawnmower is horrible. We bought it and after the second time we used it, it would not stay cranked. We took it back to Walmart and they replaced it. (It was so soon after we bought it.) The next worked twice again and then no more! It is the biggest piece of junk! We have a tiny yard, which would take about 10 minutes to cut with a decent lawn mower. However, it takes about 45 minutes minimum to cut it with this mower.

Unfortunately, I must also agreed that this mover is a piece of junk. I bought the mover at Walmart about 3 weeks ago. I used it twice, note that my yard is small..it takes approximate 10 mins to move. The first two and only times it worked, I noticed that it smoke alot upon cranking, note gas was purchased fresh, that same day and oil was added as per instructions. The motor also sounds strange, not running smoothly. Three days ago I attempted to mow the grass again and nothing..it cranks, runs for a few seconds, shakes and shuts off. Note mover was store always in a garage. Frustrating....I am returning it today and will not buy another weedeater product. This was a bad experience.. I called customer service and they indicated that I could take to a repair shop for $50.00..Is this a joke? I personally would like to set a match to it, but instead I will need to drain the gas and load it up in my car (100 degree weather) and take it back. Walmart should offer better products to their customers and avoid this whole inconvience of the return, not to mention the expense.

weed eater lawnmower
by: amcanelly@att.net

I purchased my 1st Weedeater push lawnmower 2 summers ago and so far the 1st summer I owned it the gas tank developed a crack and had to be replaced and know where the motor bolts into the deck frame has cracked around the bolt holes with 2 to 3 inch cracks. I would think very hard about buying another mower of this brand due to the cheapness in the metal used. Please consider this if you are considering making a purchase of one of this brand. You will not get your value out of it. It will become unsafe before the motor due to the poor quality of the metal.

JUNK ~ Compliments of Walmart

Piece of JUNK
by: Deb

My WeedEater lawn mower worked fine the first few times then it would start but not stay running.
I had to keep pressing the primer for about 5 minutes to keep it running until it warmed up.
I also had to hold down the start/run lever so that my son could get down on one knee and continuously press the primer bulb.
I bought it from Walmart, was inexpensive BUT just goes to show..."you get what you pay for".

out of the box and right back to the store
by: Anonymous

Piece of you know what. Bought the $130.00 from Walmart. Uncrated it, and first thing I noticed was a bent wheel. Fine it happens. Second thing I noticed was the blade was scraping the sides. Annoyed. Third thing I noticed was that the pull cord wouldn;t retract. Lastly, it would not start. Sounds like the engine is freezed. (yes it has oil).. Stay away from this cheap pot metal made thing. Overpriced piece of junk. For $15.00 more I could have bought a better made one from Lowes.. JUNK!!!!!

I Wish it Worked as Good as it Looked
by: Anonymous

I had this mower for about three months and it died. It would start for a few seconds and that was it. Now it won't even turn over. At least I didn't have to pay anyone to mow the grass almost all summer. I guess in the long run, I saved money. Now I have to find a real mower.

same issue
by: Anonymous

I had the same issue. Wal-mart...Cheep mower...It takes me 10 min. to do my yard...I got about 2 to 3 hours out of it. I had an old Murry for 15 years never changed the spark plug or oil. The only reason I got rid of it the handle kept breaking so I cut it shorter and shorter.

Starting problems after sitting a couple months
by: Anonymous

I had this problem too, but taking the carb and tank off, then taking the carb off the tank and cleaning both off with carb spray fixed it. The carb didn't look dirty, but it started right up after I did this. I had already tried fresh gas and that hadn't helped. This thing sat maybe 2 months max. I live in the south, and I had started it up once over the winter in hopes of not having this problem.

Won't start after first couple months
by: Anonymous

I've had two of these (returned the first one on warranty) and they both did exactly the same thing. The engine will fire after pumping the primer bulb, but then dies after 3-4 seconds of running. Don't waste your money.

A piece of junk
by: Bob

My weed eater lawn mower worked three or four times then it wouldn't start and run. I had to continue pressing the primer for about 5 minutes to keep it running until it warmed up. I had to tie down the start/run lever so that I could get down on one knee and continuously press the primer pump.
There is evidently a carb. problem.
I bought it from Wal Mart and I am taking it back to Wal Mart. I should have known something was wrong when they were trying to sell another one that had been returned.
